On the night of April 20, reports emerged of an Iranian drone attacking US military vessels. This was reported by an Iranian source amid a statement from the joint command of Iran’s “Khatam al-Anbiya” forces expressing an intention to respond to US actions. Currently, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has not issued an official comment on the incident.

It’s important to note that the ceasefire formally remains in place. However, the situation in the region has been tense following a recent statement by US President Donald Trump on a social network. He announced the seizure of an Iranian cargo ship by the US Navy in the Strait of Hormuz.

Incident with the Iranian Cargo Ship

According to Trump, the Iranian ship, nearly 270 meters long with a displacement comparable to an aircraft carrier, was stopped by the US destroyer USS Spruance. The President emphasized that

“The crew was given fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to comply, and our ship stopped them right on the spot, piercing a hole in the engine room.”

Trump also noted that the vessel is under US Treasury Department sanctions due to suspicions of involvement in illegal activities. Currently, the ship is under the control of the Marine Corps, and its cargo is being inspected.
