In the United States, there is a discussion about the possibility of nominating Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf as a candidate for the position of the new supreme leader of the country. This is reported by one of the news outlets, citing its sources.

According to the information, some representatives of the White House see Ghalibaf as a promising partner who could lead Iran and continue negotiations with the Trump administration in the context of the ongoing conflict. However, it is emphasized that the White House is not currently ready to settle on any specific candidate.

Instead, U.S. authorities plan to evaluate several contenders to find someone who will be ready to reach an agreement. One source noted that while a final decision has yet to be made, Ghalibaf stands out as one of the most promising candidates.

Earlier, on March 23, Ghalibaf, who has been mentioned by several media outlets as a possible participant in the negotiation process between Iran and the U.S., denied any information regarding contacts between Tehran and Washington concerning the resolution of the conflict.
