Statements by the President of the United States

President Donald Trump expressed his view that a ground invasion of Iran would be a “futile endeavor.” Nonetheless, he pointed out Washington’s intention to influence the future leadership of the country.

Denial of Invasion Rumors

In an interview with NBC News, Trump dismissed rumors from the Iranian side suggesting that the U.S. and Israel are preparing for a joint invasion. According to him, Iran has already suffered significant losses.

“It’s a waste of time. They’ve lost everything. They’ve lost their navy. They’ve lost everything they could lose,” the president noted.

Prospects for New Leadership

Trump also emphasized that the United States would like to influence the process of selecting a new leader in Iran. “We want to come in and clear everything up,” he added, referring to the upcoming elections in the country.

He stated that the U.S. is interested in Iran having a “worthy leader.” Trump noted that various candidates are being considered for this position, although he did not specify any names.

“We don’t want a person who will take ten years to rebuild the business,” Trump stressed, adding that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of potential candidates.

The president also confirmed that the U.S. continues to monitor the situation and potential candidates for the role of the new leader in Iran, adding, “Yes, we are watching them.”
