The Syrian authorities have begun to deploy a significant number of soldiers and rocket artillery units to the border with Lebanon. This decision comes in light of the renewed military clashes between the “Hezbollah” group and Israel, aimed at preventing militants from infiltrating Syrian territory.

According to information provided to the Lebanese leadership, this operation is viewed as a defensive measure, also targeting the fight against smugglers operating in the border area. However, Lebanon has vivid memories of the events of 1975, when the start of the civil war led to the deployment of Syrian troops, who remained in the country until 2005.
