«STMEGI is not just material support. We promote the development of spiritual and cultural life of Jewish communities, strengthening ties between generations.»
Shaul Davydov is the president of the STMEGI-Azerbaijan Humanitarian Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting and developing the cultural, educational, and social life of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan.
Under his leadership, the foundation implements a wide range of educational and cultural programs aimed at preserving the identity of Mountain Jews, supporting youth, and strengthening intergenerational ties. STMEGI-Azerbaijan serves as the local arm of the international STMEGI Foundation, adapting its global mission to the specific needs of the Azerbaijani Jewish community.
One of the notable events organized with Davydov’s involvement was a lecture on the history of the Holocaust held at the Russian House in Baku — a contribution to the preservation of historical memory and the education of the younger generation.
Every year, the foundation coordinates the delivery of matza for the Jewish community during Passover — a tradition that, under Davydov’s leadership, has become a well-organized and reliable process, ensuring that every Jewish family in Azerbaijan can celebrate the holiday in accordance with tradition.
