The Al Jazeera crew found themselves at the center of a conflict with representatives of the Jewish community in the Golders Green area after ambulances were set on fire. Local residents, represented by the Jewish community, protested against the presence of journalists from the Qatari channel, known for its anti-Israel and even antisemitic reports.
The journalists arrived in this densely populated Jewish neighborhood to cover the incident involving the arson of ambulances belonging to the “Hatzolah” organization. Footage from the scene shows local residents surrounding the crew, shouting slogans: “Al Jazeera, get off our streets!”, “Go home!”, and “Terrorists!”.
Some young Jews confronted the journalists, emphasizing that they were not welcome in the area due to the channel’s negative reputation. One of them stated:
“No one wants to see Al Jazeera here.”
Another added:
“Go back to Qatar.”
The journalists’ response led to an exchange of insults in Arabic and Hebrew. Police and security services intervened to prevent further escalation of the conflict, after which the crew was forced to leave the scene. Residents explained to the authorities that the presence of the channel made them feel unsafe.
It is worth noting that the incident occurred after several ambulances were set on fire in the early hours of Monday, which belonged to the Jewish volunteer organization “Hatzolah Northwest” and were parked near a synagogue. The attack was claimed by the Iran-backed group “Harakat al-Shabab al-Yamin al-Islamia” (Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand). British authorities condemned the incident, describing it as an antisemitic attack driven by hatred.
