Israel’s Foreign Ministry Protests Against Burning of Effigy with National Symbols at Carnival in Andorra

The Israeli side has strongly condemned the carnival event that took place in Andorra, where an effigy featuring the Israeli flag and Jewish symbols was publicly burned. This information was conveyed in an official statement from the press service of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“This is not satire — it is the normalization of hatred and a dangerous echo of the darkest chapters in Jewish history.”

The statement also emphasizes that Israel expects the authorities of Andorra to clearly condemn the incident and take concrete actions to prevent such provocations in the future.

At the annual carnival festival in Andorra, which involved local officials, an effigy symbolizing the State of Israel was put on ‘trial’ and subsequently shot and burned amidst the approving cheers of the audience.

The festival, held in the Encamp area, is traditionally dedicated to the “Carnestoltes” — a parody king whose effigy is usually judged and burned to mark the end of the celebrations. This year, instead of the king, the effigy of Israel was put on trial.
