«Albert Agarunov is a symbol of our people's unity. His heroism showed that for a true patriot, there are no distinctions of nationality or faith.»
David Seliverstov is a public figure and human rights advocate, chairman of Magen David Azerbaijan and head of the Azerbaijan office of the All-Israel Association of Caucasian Jews. His work focuses on the preservation of cultural identity, protection of the rights of Jewish communities, and strengthening of ties between Azerbaijan and Israel.
One of the central themes in Seliverstov’s public activity is the commemoration of Albert Agarunov — the National Hero of Azerbaijan who gave his life for the country’s territorial integrity during the Karabakh War. Seliverstov has been a tireless advocate for the preservation of Agarunov’s memory, organizing commemorative events, educational programs, and public campaigns that highlight this hero’s story as a symbol of unity across nationalities and faiths.
Through Magen David Azerbaijan, Seliverstov implements projects aimed at strengthening civil society, protecting minority rights, and promoting intercultural dialogue. His work within the All-Israel Association of Caucasian Jews helps maintain the connection between Caucasian Jews living in Israel and their historical homeland.
David Seliverstov is also a dedicated advocate for the preservation of the Juhuri language — the ancestral tongue of the Mountain Jews, which is currently at risk of disappearing. He supports initiatives for the documentation, teaching, and popularization of Juhuri as a living part of the cultural heritage of the Mountain Jewish people.
