Mike Huckabee, the United States ambassador to Israel, sent a notification to his subordinates recommending them to leave the country on February 27. This move became known against the backdrop of rumors about possible military actions by the U.S. against Iran. The information was disclosed through sources close to the situation.
According to reports, the decision to leave was made after Huckabee’s night negotiations with senior officials from the U.S. State Department. In his letter, he suggested using Ben Gurion Airport for departure, noting that it is possible to fly to any other country.
“There is no need to panic, but for those who want to leave, it is important to plan the departure as soon as possible,” stated Huckabee’s letter.
On the same day, February 27, the U.S. embassy in Israel issued an official statement that the State Department approved the departure from the country for those diplomatic staff members who are not performing critical duties, as well as for the family members of diplomats.
