A 73-Year-Old Israeli Woman Dies in a Car Accident in New Zealand, Driver Flees the Scene
A tragic car accident occurred in Te Anau, New Zealand, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old woman from Israel. The driver involved in the incident has fled the scene and is currently being sought by authorities.
The international division of ZAKA reported that several vehicles were involved in the accident, and due to the serious injuries sustained by the victim, her death was confirmed at the scene. Other Israeli citizens were not harmed in this incident.
Baruch Nidham, head of ZAKA’s international department, stated:
“Immediately after receiving the information, I contacted our colleagues in New Zealand, who established contact with the relatives of the deceased. We are currently working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to retrieve the body from the local hospital and arrange transportation for the funeral in Israel.”
According to local police, the accident occurred near a shopping center in central Te Anau. The Israeli woman exited her vehicle and crossed the pedestrian crossing when she was struck by another car.
The police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage capturing the moment of the accident or the events leading up to it to come forward with information.
